I am on a special diet for the next six weeks, so I am only serving coffee and tea this morning, but I don't have any yummy baked goods this morning...so sorry! However, I have lost 4 lbs this week and am well on my way to a slim figure for my sister's wedding!
Update on this week...well, there's not much to say really, other than I am really working to get this post out before power goes out due to the ice storm. Last year was AWFUL and we were without power for two days, but there were many in our city that went without for ten days or more. The isolation of that storm, first seeded the idea for Strings Attached, and the need to form different kinds of relationships for the coming world. I was amazed by the resourefulness of people during the storm last year, and heartened by the way our friends and neighbors opened their hearts and homes to one another...it is how we should live our daily lives.
It is currently snowing here, but sleeted and iced all night...we have about a half inch of ice on the ground and it is snowing at a rate of a half inch or so an hour, so we may be stuck here for a while. I am hoping to go back and do all the Small Things that I missed this week, but I have also promised myself a couple of hours to write today as well...
On that note, my book is going well and coming along nicely. My deadline to upload to the publisher is 8 Feb....So I will be so excited to share it with you when I publish!
I am so excited about my upcoming trip to Rio de Janeiro...the girls that we have chosen so far to go have been amazing young ladies, and I am continually impressed by the quality of the young women who are applying. I would love help, though! The trip is expensive and the work we are doing will change both our lives and the lives of hundreds of Brazilian girls who will be able to get an education because of our uniform donations. I would love ANY help you could muster. Just click on the ChipIN badge up at the top of the page! If you would like to learn more about the trip, Inspired Girls Life and Leadership Camp or Inspired Girls Success Summits- I have linked their websites and would be happy to answer any questions you have.
On a last note, Company Girls you rock! Thank you for your support, your wisdom, your comments and encouragement last week. I desperately needed to feel like I wasn't just being whiney about things...and you ladies not only came through, but also helped me to feel better. Which is what this whole thing is all about...Thank You!
Congrats on the upcoming book! And thanks for stopping by Cozy Your Home today. (Hope the ice misses you...What a pain.)
ReplyDeleteYea on the book!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great how wonderful things come out of hardships? I love how God does that.
You are going to Rio? That's awesome! It sounds like quite the trip, and I pray you'll make quite a difference.
ReplyDeleteSo when do we get a sneak peek at the book?? :)
hmmm...perhaps i will post a couple of excerpts this week...great idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you stopped by today and that the words I shared were of some benefit. That's exciting news about your book on the way!
ReplyDeleteYour recent trials and the aftermath of your home invasion came to my mind when we heard the news that our summer cottage was damaged by someone last weekend. It's 1000 miles away, so we're more detached from the situation, but unsettled nonetheless.
May you have a peaceful and productive finish to your week!
Glad to hear that the book is coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteI would also love a sneak peak at the book!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind words. You know how spot-on you were? So spot-on that I cried as soon as I read your comment. Which was not exactly convenient, as I was on the train at the time! But it was so good to know that someone else understood, and that I'm not insane for feeling the way I do. It was also great to put a name to my feelings. Thank you so, so, so much for that.
Thanks for stopping by today, and offering me encouragement. I truly appreciate it. I want to hear about your book. Totaly cool!
ReplyDeleteJen, You are welcome...I am so glad that I could help...
ReplyDeleteOk, I will share my book with the Company Girls first...I can think of no better way to start that journey. I will post an excerpt next week!
Congrats on the almost completed book. I look forward to reading it. Thank you for the encourging words concerning my upcoming surgery and I will take all the prayers, I can get.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless & you have a good weekend, as well.
Great job on the 4 pounds!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the book and good luck on the diet. I desperately need to diet or change my lifestyle but am struggling with my commitment. I started trying to train for a 5k and ran right on schedule through this Monday. I really patted myself on the back for that one because it was FREEZING but i did it anyway! But Wed. was hubby's birthday and I didn't get to it and now we are buried under ten inches of ice and snow. Somehow with the running out of the window so has gone the motivation to eat well in favor of hot chocolate and brownies. Ugh, I need will power!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Star, I can so relate. These last two days have been torture. The diet I am on is very restrictive, and being home with the kiddos and requests for baked goods and hot cocoa has not been easy.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry the snow will melt, and then you just start again. You've done awesome with the running- stick with it!
I missed getting around last week...Just caught up on your news from last week. Unbelievable! YOU HAVE TO PAY THE PAWN SHOP? Ca-razy! I'm glad they found your things and will hopefully catch the creeps that did this!
ReplyDeleteYour diet sounds excruciating! I need to be doing the same thing but I'm not. I'm proud of you!
Can't wait for the sneak peak at your book!
Have a blessed week!
